Oliver Mellman, Partner
Oliver is a Legal Consultant at Provenance Legal in London. He has been a lawyer for over 26 years and has over 18 years’ experience working in energy and commodities. During his career he has worked for an international law firm, oil major, trading house, utility and US investment bank and has held senior leadership and management positions during the majority of that time. His work has spanned the whole spectrum of the industry and he has extensive transactional experience in a wide range of commodities including oil, coal, LNG, gas and power, emissions, biomass and metals.
Energy and Commodities Trading
As well as having worked on a wide range of day to day energy and commodity trading issues (transactions and disputes/insolvency), Oliver has widespread experience of joint ventures, cooperation agreements, structured transactions, bilateral physical and financial trading, trade and commodity finance, shipping, GTC & tender reviews and physical and financial regulatory matters.
Mergers & Acquisitions
Oliver has managed, advised on and negotiated cross-border M&A transactions for the sale and purchase of and making of minority investments in energy assets as well as joint ventures and other forms of co-operation agreements, particularly within the oil and power markets.
Oil Trading and Supply
Oliver has extensive experience of physical and financial structured transactions within the oil sector. These have involved the storage, blending, marketing, supply, trading and hedging of crude oil and various oil products on a cross-border basis.
