Michaela Duve, Partner
Michaela is a German qualified Legal Counsel (Rechtsanwältin) with over 17 years’ legal experience working in Energy Commodities. In 2012 Michaela established Duve Legal Consulting a boutique law firm that offers highly specialized consulting services in energy and commodity law, regulatory law of the EU and Switzerland and related fields of German, Swiss and European law.
European Energy Trading
Michaela worked as Senior Legal Counsel at RWE Supply & Trading GmbH London, advising RWEs electricity, gas, allowances and weather desks on standard and structured transactions as well as exchange and clearing set-ups. In her position as RWE’s representative at EFET, the European Federation of Energy Traders, she played a leading role in developing industry trading standards e.g. development of standards for trading of virtual storage, physical transportation capacities on PRISMA and French Power certificates.
Prior to joining RWE, Michaela worked for the Legal department of Barclays Capital, London, the investment banking unit of Barclays Bank, as leading negotiator specialised in physical and derivative energy and emissions trading master agreements including DRV Deutscher Rahmenvertrag and Swiss Master Agreement. At the beginning of Michaela’s carrier, she worked in the just liberalizing electricity and gas markets in Germany for pioneer trading companies owned by public utilities.
